PLEASE HELP STOP THE SUFFERING OF INNOCENT ANIMALS BY SPAYING OR
NEUTERING YOUR PETS
The surplus of homeless pets in Southern California is horrendous. Only
one out of eight dogs will ever find a permanent home; only one out of ten
cats. Every year local pounds and humane societies kill 300,000 loving
and adoptable pets because there are no homes for them. Countless others
are abandoned to the streets, left to die on the freeways, or fall victim
to unspeakable cruelty. Unless we alter the future now, this tragedy will
continue. WHY? Because the reproductive rate of cats and dogs is enormous:
A single female cat can come into heat as many as six times during the
year. She can become pregnant at the tender age of five months. She can
come into heat (two weeks after delivering her kittens. She can become
pregnant while still nursing. She is capable of producing a minimum of
three litters a year, with an average litter of six kittens; potentially
6,000 offspring!! Female dogs can produce two litters a year. For
large dogs, the average litter may be as many as a dozen puppies.
Obviously, there can never be enough homes for theses animals, yet
they continue to be born….one after another….after another…like clockwork.
Sadly, our pounds in Southern California have become warehouses for
unwanted animals. The puppy that was loved yesterday, the “free to good
home” kitten, the abandoned or lost adult purebred dog and cat are picked
up or delivered to humane societies and animal control by the hundreds, as
if someone else is responsible. They are not. WE ARE. For try as they
do, the shelters cannot find homes for these animals. No one can. There
are simply too many animals, too few homes. So, THEY DIE…..one after
another….one a minute, 60 an hour….like clockwork. There is an answer.
It’s simple. It’s inexpensive. It will save countless animal lives. By
spaying or neutering your pet, you can alter the future of these helpless
animals NOW. Please do your part by becoming a responsible pet owner.
Pass the word when you see animals that are not spayed or neutered. If you
come across feral cats, please call an animal rescue organization and ask
them how you can spay and neuter before there are more unwanted litters
born.
THESE ANIMALS NEED OUR HELP… PLEASE DO YOUR PART.
